For Finnish born Terhi Pölkki shoes are objects with a story. She designs shoes for women who want to stand out from the crowd. Her shoes are distinctively feminine and unique. She describes her approach to shoe design as "a place somewhere between fashion and product design". With the combination of good aesthetics, practicality and a high quality finish; the shoes are beautiful objects to fall in love with.
Graduating from Cordwainers at London College of Fashion in MA Fashion Footwear in January 2008, her collection was showcased in London. In May 2008 Terhi was awarded Shoe Designer of the Year 2008 in Finland. Her MA final collection was also chosen as a finalist in the prestigious, International ITS#7 Accessories competition in Trieste Italy 2008.
The S/S 2008 collection "The heritage of the empty land" is inspired by her roots from Northern country of Finland and Lapland. It features soft, fresh and simple shapes such as rounded toes, organic forms, pleats and straps. The collection is developed from ecological reindeer leather and the heels are made of curly birch.
